About Me

Hi, I'm Adam Becker. I'm a father of three amazing kids and married to my wonderful wife Kate. By day, I'm a tech leader at the University of Oregon, and by night, I'm a coding enthusiast, gamer, maker, and all-around tech nerd.
When I'm not wrangling code or managing projects, you can find me exploring new technologies, gaming, reading fantasy novels, or tinkering with my 3D printer. I believe in continuous learning and sharing knowledge with others, which is why I'm passionate about mentoring and volunteering in my community.

Hobbies
Coding
I'm passionate about coding both professionally and personally. I love learning new technologies, solving complex problems, and I'm particularly fond of the Laravel ecosystem. Whether it's at work or in my free time, you'll often find me exploring new programming concepts and building interesting applications.
Ice Hockey
I used to skate a lot as a kid, and recently found my way back onto the ice. There's nothing quite like the feeling of flying across the rink with the wind rushing by. I usually play defense (my favorite spot), but I'm happy to jump into any position. For whatever reason, I play lefty even though I'm right-handed. It's fast, physical, and so much fun!
Video Games
From being a Donkey Kong Country champion at age 10 to achieving realm firsts in World of Warcraft and global rankings in Death Ball, gaming has been a significant part of my life. These days, I enjoy playing games like Genshin Impact and World of Warcraft, and I'm also exploring game development as a creative outlet.
Parenting
Okay, it's not technically a hobby, but parenting is something I genuinely love. Supporting my kids in their academics and athletics brings me a lot of joy, and they're just plain fun to be around. Each one has their own spark of creativity, and I really enjoy spending time with them, whether we're working on a project or just hanging out. They keep life interesting in the best way.
Reading
I love escaping into fantasy worlds through books. I'm a big fan of Terry Goodkind's works, and I particularly enjoyed Ready Player One and the Silo Series. Reading provides a perfect balance to my technical work, allowing me to explore different worlds and perspectives.
3D Printing
My Bambu Labs A1 printer is a source of endless creativity. Whether printing designs found online or creating our own 3D models, it's a fascinating intersection of technology and creativity. You can check out my MakerWorld profile at makerworld.com/en/@cyphun.
Music
Music is a constant companion in my life. While underground hip hop is my favorite genre, I have an eclectic taste and will listen to almost anything. I've even dabbled in making music myself, finding it to be another creative outlet alongside my technical pursuits.
Wood Working
I enjoy working with my hands and creating tangible objects. From building a little free library to crafting furniture and contributing to my local children's museum, woodworking allows me to create lasting, meaningful projects that benefit my community.
Projects
Coming soon! I have some exciting projects in motion, but I'm not quite ready to share them yet. Stay tuned for updates!
Volunteering
I've been involved in various volunteer activities over the years:
- 10 years and still counting of being a middle school mentor
- Helping teach accelerated math to 5th graders
- I used to maintain exhibits at my local children's museum
- I used to mentor college students studying computer science
